Cookin’ with Music
Chabrier’s “Espana” conducted by Alastair Willis along with a cooking demonstration by Chef Emeril Lagasse of “Paellaya.”
NEW ORLEANS, LA (March 29, 2004) - As a part of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra’s on-going educational programming, the 70-member orchestra performs a series of entertaining and educational concerts, the Young People’s Concert Series, serving over 12,000 school children in the Greater New Orleans area and in rural, under-served areas. The Emeril Lagasse Foundation sponsored a kick-off to the 2004 Spring Season with a very special performance entitled “Cookin’ With Music,” featuring Chef Emeril Lagasse. This unique “cooking concert” involved a cooking demonstration, as well as the symphony, which explored the musical spice rack of instrumental color through an introduction of the different instrumental groups of the orchestra. The kick-off concert was free for the public school kids of New Orleans, and helped increase attendance and support of arts-related events throughout the city.
